Atlanta-based DJ/producer Sol Messiah released his debut album "GOD CMPLX" (Rhymesayers Entertainment) on September 30 with a roster of notable names, including longtime collaborator/partner Sa-Roc, KXNG Crooked, Atmosphere's Slug, Aesop Rock and dead prez MC stic.man. 

In support of the project, Sol Messiah has just dropped a new video for the track "“Grand” featuring Da BackWudz. Directed by Tommy Nova, the visual is a straightforward affair, with Sol Messiah and his associates kicking back at the studio while they reflect on their blessings. 

Sol Messiah and Sa-Roc kick off The Mother Tongue Tour on November 9 at The Pour House in Raleigh, North Carolina, then head to Europe to finish out the year. Watch the "Grand" video below and keep scrolling for tour dates.

MF DOOM died unexpectedly on October 31, 2020, but his death wasn't announced until two months later. On what has become known as DOOM's Day, MetalFace fans are commemorating his legacy with countless social media posts in honor of the enigmatic MC.

Salt-N-Pepa—the Hip Hop duo comprised of Cheryl "Salt" James and Sandra "Pepa" Denton—will receive a coveted star on the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles on Friday (November 4). The ceremony is expected to start at 11:30 a.m. PST near Amoeba Music. Hosted by Chair of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Lupita Sanchez Cornejo, the event also includes guest speakers MC Lyte and Roxanne Shanté.

"This upcoming star ceremony honoring Hip-Hop pioneers Salt-N-Pepa will honor the amazing 80s music we all love and so many grew up with!” Walk of Fame Producer Ana Martinez said in a press release. “We’re placing these ladies of Hip Hop royalty adjacent to Amoeba Music and right next to the Walk of Fame star of another Queen of Hip Hop, Missy Elliott."

Chuck D and David "C-Doc" Snyder teamed up for a track from the forthcoming HBO documentary "Say Hey, Willie Mays!" As suggested by the title, the film revolves around the life of baseball icon Willie Mays.

Author and director of the film Nelson George attended the premiere in New York City with Chuck over the weekend and commemorated the moment with a Twitter post that read, "With @MrChuckD last night at premier of #SayHeyWillieMays. Chuck wrote and produced an original tribute to Willie that plays over the doc's closing section. Met him back in '81 when he was attending Adelphi University. His latest single and video, "Alligator Boots" featuring Say Sway," once again puts his rhyming prowess centerstage while paying tribute to fellow Bay Area Hip Hop staple Gift of Gab, who passed away in June 2021.
