De La Soul Flips Amazon Music Event "The D.A.I.S.Y. Experience" Into Trugoy Tribute

De La Soul's first six albums are scheduled to hit streaming services on Friday (March 3). But sadly, one of the members won't be there to celebrate. Trugoy The Dove, one of the trio's founding members, died unexpectedly on February 12, less than a month before the highly anticipated event.

To honor De La Soul's fallen brother, Amazon Music will present "The D.A.I.S.Y. Experience" at New York City's Webster Hall on Thursday (March 2), just one day before the albums are finally made available. Not only will it honor Trugoy's life and legacy, it will also highlight the indelible impact fellow De La members Posdnuos and Maseo have had on the culture.

The venue will be transformed with artwork from the the New York City-bred trio's seminal 1989 debut, 3 Feet High and Ri

Some people might not be aware Hov's 2004 hit was actually a remix of an Ice-T song by the same name, which was released more than a decade prior.

As Ice-T explains, JAY-Z approached him at the ceremony and asked, "You know I love you, right? Well, it’s on the internet that you mad.” Ice-T denied he was upset and told him, "They’re bringing up all kinds of interviews about it [‘99 Problems’].
