Pharrell Williams has been named the Men’s Creative Director for Louis Vuitton. The announcement comes more than a year after predecessor and Off-White founder Virgil Abloh died. The luxury fashion brand revealed the hire via Twitter on Valentine’s Day (February 14) with a black and white portrait of Williams draped in a Louis Vuitton blanket.

The Hip Hop community was dealt a massive blow on Sunday (February 12) when the news broke beloved De La Soul MC, Trugoy The Dove, had died in Maryland. Social media blew up with tribute posts as many grappled with the reality one-third of the groundbreaking Hip Hop group was no longer physically here. 

But some, of course, were closer to Trugoy than others. Among them, Stetsasonic founder Daddy-O, who took his grief to Instagram. Hours after the news had spread, Daddy-O shared how much he was hurting along with how De La Soul got its name. He also revealed he was responsible for getting De La Soul their record deal.

De La Soul legend Trugoy The Dove, also known as Dave or Dave Jolicoeur, has died, AllHipHop confirmed. He was 54. Details are scarce, but Trugoy has been struggling with his health over the past few years. In 2018, Trugoy opened up about his battle with congestive heart failure in an Instagram video and admitted he was struggling with being sidelined.

“I’m ready just to get back to the stage,” he said at the time. “I miss that. I love traveling. I love being around my guys and I want that back.”

In 2020, he again sparked concern when he was briefly hospitalized. He appeared to be in good spirits, however, and was able to have an Instagram Live conversation with his De La Soul brethren, Posdnuos and Maseo.
