Antlive, a.k.a. Kenny Powers, released his latest album, "La Flama Blanca" today.

"La Flama Blanca" is the latest release from Detroit's Antlive. The SPITslam artist and producer has been active in hip hop ever since the 1980's, when he was discovered by Public Enemy's Chuck D.  “La Flama Blanca” is about no stone being unturned," Antlive said on the SlamJamz website. "Anybody who has ever wronged Kenny Powers or has not paid their proper respect to a legend will fear the wrath!"

We all know hip hop is popular, but a recently released analysis of streaming services has revealed just how popular it actually is.

HITS Daily Double has collected data from a variety of streaming services, and their list of the thirty most streamed musicians is dominated by hip hop acts. Drake tops the list with a commanding lead and almost a billion and half streams, followed by Rhianna and Kanye West in 2nd and 3rd place, respectively. 

With the exception of Justin Beiber's 4th place spot, the top 10 is almost entirely hip hop or R&B acts: Beyonce comes in at 5th with a respectable 592 million streams, followed closely by Future, G-Eazy, The Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar, and Eminem

Although relatively unknown, Maryland-based hip-hop duo, Wolves and Sheep, have released powerful visuals for its “Anti-Social Media Blues,” a track that needs to be heard. The song dives head first into the often-debated topic of the importance of social media and technology in today’s society. With lead emcee Tyler Durdin proudly repping his Chuck D shirt, he picks apart the climate of our technology dependent culture while, at the same time, acknowledging the irony of needing it to get his message to the masses.

Public Enemy has released a new music video for "Honky Talk Rules," a track off of their 2015 album "Man Plans God Laughs."

The video, which blends rap and country, features Chuck D rapping over guitars inspired by The Rolling Stones' "Honky Tonk Woman," has generated interest from some mainstream outlets for its politically charged lyrics. "Let everybody also know of your crimes, But you don't want to fix this world by solving. Rather have the earth singing to your lies." Chuck raps. "Keep it, your honky talk rules. Screw your rules."

This weeks spotlight artist is DJ Shadow, born Joshua Paul Davis on June 29, 1972, in Davis, California. He is a music producer and DJ and was a major figure in instrumental Hip-Hop. His debut album Endtroducing….. gained him much recognition and today his personal record collection consists of over 60,000 records. In the game since 1989, DJ Shadow began experimenting with a four-track recorder in high school. He became a DJ for the campus radio at UC Davis, KDVS. From there his career kicked off and he began working with various labels and artists.
