Black Thought Mourns Death Of Founding Roots Member Malik B

Black Thought has shared a heartfelt tribute to founding member of The Roots Malik B. News of his passing started making the rounds on social media after his cousin Don Champion confirmed his death.

In an Instagram post, The Roots' frontman penned a lengthy eulogy for his late friend.

"We made a name and carved a lane together where there was none," he wrote. "We resurrected a city from the ashes, put it on our backs and called it Illadelph. In friendly competition with you from day one, I always felt as if I possessed only a mere fraction of your true gift and potential. Your steel sharpened my steel as I watched you create cadences from the ether and set them free into the universe to become poetic law, making the English language your bitch.

From their early punk rock days and "Licensed To Ill" superstardom to the sobering commercial failure of 1989's "Paul's Boutique" and triumphant reinvention, they touch on all formidable moments on their journey.

The most emotional moment came as they were talking about Adam "MCA" Yauch, who passed away from cancer in 2012. Ad-Rock is unable to finish his thought as tears well up in his

Lords Of The Underground Are Back With "Insomniac" Video

Lords Of The Underground burst onto the scene in 1993 with their "Here Come The Lords" album, which featured songs such as "Chief Rocka" and "Funky Child." The trio — comprised of DoItAll, Mr. Funke and Lord Jazz — released three more albums, culminating with 2007's "House Of Lords."

Now, the Newark-bred hip-hop vets are back with a new video for "Insomniac," the inaugural single from their first album in 13 years, "So Legendary."

Produced by Snowgoons, the track is reminiscent of the Lords Of The Underground's traditional '90s boom bap style and finds all three members back in top form.
