Will Smith recently gave the audience on Stephen Colbert's Late Show a surprise throwback treat by performing "Summertime" live for the first time in years.
Smith appeared on the talk show to promote his new movie, Suicide Squad, which stars Smith as super villain Deadshot, an expert assassin and frequent Batman antagonist.
"Summertime" was originally released by DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince in 1991, back when Smith was still releasing music under his "Fresh Prince" alias and his acting career was just starting to take off. The song hit #1 on the U.S. hip hop and R&B charts, was certified Platinum by the RIAA, and earned the duo a Grammy award.
Smith stopped releasing music as part of group once his career in blockbuster movies took off, but he and Jazzy Jeff have remained good friends through the years. In 2015, the two announced that they're reuniting for the first "DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince" tour in years, which will reportedly happen sometime in 2016.
