Patrick Baril, better known as Statik Selektah, was born January 30, 1982 in Boston. Selektah is a DJ, record producer, and radio personality. In 2003 he created ShowOff Marketing, which has had clients such as Capitol Records, Universal Records, Reebok, G-Unit Records, Diddy’s Vote or Die campaign, and many others.
Statik Selektah founded Showoff Records in 2010, as well as forming the hip hop group 1982 with Termanology. Along with dropping his own albums, he’s been a producer on a multitude of projects for other artists.
While recording with rapper Freeway on Ustream, he announced a song off his next album, Population Control, called "Groupie Love" which featured Mac Miller. The track was included on the final release of Population Control, his first release for the legendary Duck Down Records, in 2011.
Statik Selektah has released additional solo albums including Extended Play, What Goes Around and Lucky, as well as teaming up with Strong Arm Steady, Action Bronson, Ransom and Bumpy Knuckles for special joint projects.
Statik currently has a radio show on Thursday nights on Eminem’s Shade 45 XM/Sirius radio station. Since 2015, the publishing interest of Statik Selektah’s catalog has been represented by Reservoir Media Management and his latest project is Statik KXNG, released in February of this year via ShowOffRecords & Penalty Entertainment.
