Jurassic 5 has been a mainstay of the alternative hip hop scene for over twenty years. With their smooth, inventive flows and intricate production, it's no wonder that so many hardcore hip hop heads have become addicted to the J5 high.
The six members of Jurassic 5 -- Akil, Zaakir, Marc 7, Chali 2na, DJ Nu-Mark and Cut Chemist -- are all veterans of the 90's alternative rap scene, as they've been winning over fans and critics alike ever since their 1998 self titled debut. Alongside peerless turntable and production work from DJ Nu-Mark and Cut Chemist, the four emcees of the band all contribute their own unique sound and style to each track, often combining their voices to create a harmonious fifth voice -- the "five" in Jurassic 5.
After going on hiatus in 2007, the band made their triumphant return in 2013. They recently released their first single in years, "Customer Service," a laid back, catchy track that proves that Jurassic 5 lost none of their edge during their years apart.
