One of the great duos in music, producer Timbaland and singer-rapper-producer Missy Elliott, are getting ready to return, albeit with separate solo albums. In an interview with MTV, Timbo has revealed that he and Missy will end their long hiatuses and drop new records in June.
"Right now, we're preparing to get both our videos, our first singles, shot kinda at the same time," Tim said. "We want to do it as a movement and spontaneously."
Missy's album will be her first since 2005's 'The Cookbook.' In the interim years, she's worked as a songwriter and producer for other artists, and last year, she told People magazine that she'd been diagnosed with Graves' disease, an autoimmune disorder.
"I'm 30 pounds lighter because I've been exercising." the MC told People last year. "My thyroid is functioning, so I haven't had to take medication in about nine months. [But] you live with it for the rest of your life."
Tim's 'Shock Value III,' meanwhile, follows three years after his last full-length, 'Shock Value II.'
"I just don't want to move too ahead of her and she don't want to move too ahead of me," Tim told MTV, proving that, some 15 years after their game-changing 1997 collaboration 'Supa Dupa Fly,' these Virginians haven't lost sight of what they're capable of together.
The dual album release is the latest collaboration in the duo's lengthy musical relationship, which has spawned such hits as "Get Ur Freak On" and Aaliyah's "I Care 4 U."
"People always ask if we're still working together, and the answer is we will always work together," Elliott told Billboard in a previous interview about the new album, then titled "Block Party." "He's always going to be involved, even if it is just on one record. That's my brother. I respect and honor what he says."
