Jay Z is back with his first solo single since 2014. Jay says he was pushed to finish the new song, "Spiritual," after hearing about the most recent rash of black deaths at the hands of police.
"I made this song a year or so ago, I never got to finish it," Jay Z said. "Punch (TDE) told me I should drop it when Mike Brown died, sadly I told him "this issue will always be relevant. I'm hurt that I knew his death wouldn't be the last..."
"I'm saddened and disappointed in THIS America. We should be further along," Jay continued. "We are not."
"Spiritual" can be streamed right now on Tidal, the music service which Jay Z owns.
"Spiritual" is Jay's first solo single since 2014's Part II (On the Run,) which also featured Beyoncé. Jay was also recently featured on the remix of Fat Joe and Remy Ma's "All The Way Up," which peaked at 27 on the Billboard top 100.
